Services for Samuel Levi Worley will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kevin Harrison and John Jacob officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Worley, 85, of Collinsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a graduate of Lee College in Tennessee and was a member of The Church of God in Los Angeles.
Survivors include four daughters, Eulene Siembieda of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jeanette Pinkham and her husband, Larry, of Collinsville; Barbara Dobbs and her husband, Daniel, and Karen Isaacs and her husband, Greg, all of Los Angeles; two sons, Samuel Worley and his wife, Diane, and Fred Worley, all of Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; nine sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nella Rose; his parents, the Rev. John and Belle Worley; in-laws, the Rev. Thomas Jefferson and Leona Rose Meade; a brother, the Rev. Lerman Worley; a sister, Irene Talbott; sisters-in-law, Pherbia Kerrick and Joanne Meade; brothers-in-law, Lokey Foley, Raymond Meade, Junior Meade and Curtis Hylton; and a son-in-law, Harry Siembieda.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
REV. ROBERT M. MATHENY
Retired Methodist minister
Services for the Rev. Robert M. Matheny will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Harrison and Jack Loflin officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Clinton. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Matheny, 86, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002. He was raised in Clarke, Wayne and Lauderdale counties as the eldest son of a Methodist minister.
Following in the path of his father, he preached his first sermon at the age of 17 and was licensed to preach at district conference in 1936. After graduating from Millsaps College, he joined the Mississippi Methodist Conference in 1939 and was appointed to the Hattiesburg Circuit.
After serving as conference director of evangelism, he pastored churches in Richton, Jackson, Terre Haute, Ind., and Hattiesburg as well as Central United Methodist Church in Meridian from 1959-1964. He served as superintendent of the East Jackson and Meridian districts. Following his retirement, he served for nine years as pastor of Daleville United Methodist Church and as pastor in residence at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian. He was twice elected as delegate to the Jurisdictional and General Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
During his ministry he helped organize 26 new churches and was instrumental in the development of Aldersgate Retirement Community.
He served on the board of trustees of Millsaps College and as president of its alumni association. He also served on boards of the Wesley House Community Center and Aldersgate.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Stafford Matheny; daughters, Elise Eslinger and her husband, Richard, of Dayton, Ohio, and Cynthia Brooks and her husband, Phillip, of Meridian; sons, the Rev. Dr. Mark Matheny and his wife, the Rev. Emily Matheny, of Memphis, Tenn., the Rev. Jim Matheny and his wife, the Rev. Kristen Williams Matheny, of Gulfport; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Thad Matheny of Rome, Ga.; and a sister, Mary Finch of Dickenson, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the organ fund at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian.
Pallbearers will be Doug Fort, Scott Gray, Maurice Hall, Brad Huff, David Rosenbaum and Ron Walton.
Graveside pallbearers will be his four grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be United Methodist ministers of the Mississippi Conference, members of the Bob Matheny Sunday School Class at Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Dorothy Rainwater, Babs Straus, Josie Smith, Jamie Graham and Charles Graham.
Visitation will be Friday 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the church.
C.M. MILEY

PHILADELPHIA Services for C. M. "Red" Miley will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Mr. Miley, 77, of Union, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Alliance-Laird Hospital in Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Miley of Union; a daughter, Bobbie Goss of Union; a son, Maxwell Miley of Philadelphia; a step-daughter, Wilda McColley of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and brothers, Monroe Miley of Philadelphia, Truman Miley of Jackson and Leland "Bud" Miley of Columbus.
Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
NEVA BELL PHILLIPS
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Neva Bell Phillips will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Lester Pope and Clovis Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Gilbertown Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips, 88, of the Branch Community, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Beverly Health Care in Mobile.
Survivors include three sons, George "Joe" Manley of Eight Mile; Ralph Manley of Cape Coral, Fla.; and Jimmy Phillips of Daphne; a daughter, Christine Parsons of Semmes; a brother, Ozzie Mazingo of Quitman, Miss.; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
