    Retired from James River paper mill
    Services for Charles R. Moffett Sr. will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Buddy Braddock and Cliff Pace officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mr. Moffett, 78, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II.
    Survivors include his wife, Inell Moffett of Meridian; a daughter, Linda Kinard and her husband, Willie, of Brandon; a son, Charles R. "Cotton" Moffett Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Meridian; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Tracey and Brittany Kinard, Jeremy and Chris Moffett; two great-grandchildren, Emily Harrell and Will Langdon; four sisters, Carrie Dearman, Daisy Fisher, Flora Dearman and Clarice Davidson; three brothers, John Moffett, Wilburn Moffett and Roylee Moffett; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Moffett; a brother, Freeman Moffett; two sisters, Annie Weeks and Loraine Lee.
    Pallbearers will be Jeremy Moffett, Chris Moffett, Matt Minchew, Matt Mason, Jeffery Stokes, Corey Godwin, Ryan Mosley and Daniel Boles.
    Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 2001 ball team at Clarkdale High School.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    BETTY PERMENTER PERSONS

    DEKALB Services for Betty Permenter Persons will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Scooba United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wood officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Persons, 97, of DeKalb, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Mississippi Care Center in DeKalb. She was a member of Scooba United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include a son, John Evan Persons and his wife, Peggy, of Scooba; grandchildren, Linda Wilson and her husband, Nick, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mickey Jones and his wife, Luann, of Concord, Ohio, and John Persons Jr. and his wife, Kiyomi, of Dallas, Texas; five great-grandchildren, John Edd Persons, Melissa Wilson, Kristin Wilson, Lauren Jones and Christopher Jones; and several special nieces, nephews and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mamie Permenter.
    The family requests memorials be made to Scooba United Methodist Church.
    Pallbearers will be her nephews.
    Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    ODEN JOHN
    Retired stock clerk, farmer
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Oden John will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Pearl River Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Emerson Isaac officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. John, 80, of Philadelphia, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a retired stock clerk from Williams Brothers of Philadelphia. He was a native and life long resident of the Pearl River Community in Neshoba County.
    Survivors include his wife, Mazelle Morris John of Philadelphia; three sons, Felton John and Freddy John of Philadelphia and Freeman John of Carthage; a daughter, Janell John Vaughn of Philadelphia; two stepdaughters, Fannie Amos Clemons of Philadelphia and Linda Amos Clemons of Louisville; five brothers-in-law, R.J. Willis, Prentis Morris, Champ Morris and Chester Morris, all of Philadelphia, and Leslie Morris of Tulsa, Okla.; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Betty Gibson John; his first wife, Una Mae Willis John; two daughters, Shirley John and baby girl John; granddaughters, Latonya Allen and Shalita Farmer; brothers, Bennett John and L.D. John; sisters, L.A. John, Sani John Sam and Sudie Mae John Willis.
    Visitation will begin today at 10 a.m. at the family home in the Pearl River Community.
