    OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, 2001

    Retired ophthalmologist
    Services for Dr. Edward Lowry Moore will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Beverly Tinnin and David McCubbin officiating. Burial will be in Moore Family Cemetery in Clarke County with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Dr. Moore, 65, of Meridian, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was born at Rush Foundation Hospital on March 17, 1936, to the former Sara Harper of Stonewall and Dr. Daniel Houston Moore.
    He moved from Stonewall to Meridian in 1938 at the age of two. In 1942, he lived in Brundage, Ala. and returned to Meridian in 1943.
    He attended Kate Griffin Junior High School in 1948, was a member of the football, track and basketball teams, serving as captain of the basketball team for a year and also as co-captain of the football team.
    In the ninth grade he received the Good Citizenship Medal, elected vice-president of his class and served on the Student Council.
    He began Meridian High School in 1952, where he was a member of the Student Council, basketball team (senior year served as captain and was named to the "All Big Eight Team"), football, track and tennis teams. In addition to the Hi-Y Club, the Order of DeMolay and the M Club. He was a May 1954 honors graduate.
    Dr. Moore attended the University of Mississippi from September 1954 to May 1957. He served as president of Pi Sigma Pre-Medical Fraternity, Committee of 100, of Pi Kappa Alpha, of the Inter-Fraternity Council and a varsity cheerleader.
    He attended Millsaps College in the summer of 1955, Goethe Institute, Arolsen, Hessen, West Germany summer 1957. He attended the University of Mississippi, School of Medicine, from September 1957 to June 1961. Dr. Moore received his medical degree on June 11, 1961, and did his rotating internship from July 1961 to June 1962 at Memorial Hospital of Chatham County in Savannah, Ga.
    Dr. Moore served as a captain in U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1964, and was awarded special accommodation medal from the U.S. Army upon discharge.
    His ophthalmology residency was completed from July 1964 to June 1967 at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. General practice of ophthalmology in Meridian from July 1967 to retirement in January 1998.
    Dr. Moore was board certified in ophthalmology on November 19, 1969. He served on the staffs of Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, Riley Memorial Hospital, Rush Foundation Hospital and the former Hospitals St. Joseph's and Matty Hersee.
    He served as a medical missionary in Bangalore, India, in 1978 on behalf of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
    Dr. Moore was a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi State Medical Association, East Mississippi Medical Association, Mississippi Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Association, Board Member at Northwood Country Club, First Baptist Church Board of Deacons and former superintendent of Sunday School.
    Survivors include his wife, Gloria Spence Moore of Meridian; two sons Edward Lowry Moore Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and Keir Harper Moore and his wife, Kim, of Meridian; a daughter, Heather Lorraine Moore, two brothers, Dr. Daniel Houston Moore Jr. and his wife, Laura Grafton, and Stephen Owen Moore and his wife, Joan Caton, and his mother, Sara Harper Moore, all of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Daniel Houston Moore.
    The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Meridian, the Parkinson's Foundation, Diabetes Association or the Cancer Society.
    Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
    BARBARA ANN KLADE BOSS DEWART
    DELAVAN, Wis. Services for Barbara Ann Klade Boss Dewart will be held today at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Betzer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Dewart, 63, of Delavan, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in her home. She was born April 8, 1939, in Neshoba, Miss., the daughter of LeRoy Partrige and Lillian Talbert. She married Fred Klade in 1963, he died in 1984. Barb then married Glenn Boss in 1996, he died in 1997. She married Ron Dewart in 2000.
    Mrs. Dewart retired from AJAY Industries after 33 years of service. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was active in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
    Survivors include her husband, Ron; a son, Michael Klade and his wife, Kerri, of Pleasant Prairie; two sisters, Sue Bigelow and her husband, Ben, of Delavan and Ruby McDonald and her husband, Lamar, of Meridian; two brothers, Tony Partrige and his wife, Shelly, of Byron, Ill. and Eugene Partrige of Oklahoma; her mother, Lillian Partrige; and two grandchildren, Trisha and Erik.
