DEKALB A $320,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission will help the town DeKalb build a new water treatment plant, it was announced Monday.
U.S. Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., and Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., said the improvement project would create 100 temporary jobs and 30 permanent full-time jobs.
DeKalb supplies water to two neighboring water associations. The new treatment plant and water storage improvements will provide neighboring residential and commercial properties with more potable water. Officials believe the project will also make DeKalb and the surrounding areas more attractive to industrial prospects.
The town will provide $80,000 toward the project.
