Gospel Night tickets on sale
Tickets are now on sale for Gospel Night at the Jimmie Rodgers Festival set for 7 p.m. May 3 at the Temple Theatre.
Reserved seating tickets are available for $10 at the theatre box office located at Eighth Street and 24th Avenue. The box office is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets may also be ordered by calling 693-5353.

UWA presents spring concert
The University of West Alabama Concert Choir and University Singers will present a "Spring Concert" today at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Candidates forum set for Thursday
A forum for mayoral candidates will be held Thursday at the Council of Organizations Building, 814 45th Ave. in Meridian. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. A panel of three will question the candidates. The audience will also be allowed to ask questions. The forum is sponsored by the Viscounts Civic and Social Club of Meridian. The public is invited to attend

Bands to present spring concert
Southeast Lauderdale High School Band and the All-county High School Jazz Band will present a spring concert Friday at 7 p.m. in the Southeast High School gym. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. A Band Booster meeting will be held before the concert at 6 p.m. in the band hall.
Crisis Pregnancy Center being established
A Crisis Pregnancy Center is being established in Lauderdale County. Anyone interested in volunteering should call Northpointe Presbyterian Church at 482-7744, or Karen Sims at 485-0202.
WL High School Chorus to present concert
West Lauderdale High School chorus will present a year-end concert, "A Knight of Song and Dance," on May 1 at the Temple Theatre. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The concert will include music from the 54-member SATB concert choir, the SSA choir, the madrigal ensemble, the girls' sextet and the boys' quartet. The choir is accompanied by Chrissy Fincher and directed by Twyla Hurst. There is no admission fee but a donation will be collected at the door.
Hilltop Homes collects rummage sale items
Volunteers for Hilltop Home for Boys and Hilltop Home for Girls are seeking items for their annual "Spring Rummage Sale," to be held May 3-4 at the boys' home. All donations are tax-deductible. Items needed include clothes, furniture, knickknacks, appliances and dishes.
Items may be delivered to the boys' home at 7297 Highway 39 North, or the girls' home at 5207 Zero Road. Large donations can be picked up. For more information, call 482-0432.
298th to celebrate 50th anniversary
Members of the 298th Corps Support Battalion of the Mississippi Army National Guard will conduct an open house celebrating their 50th anniversary May 5 at the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia. The unit will display modern and historical military equipment and will have the Neshoba Central and Philadelphia High School Stage Bands on hand for entertainment. A formal ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Rabies clinic set for May 5
To ensure protection from rabies for cats and dogs, public and private partners will offer a series of vaccination clinics on Saturdays this spring and summer. Lauderdale County's animal rabies clinic is scheduled for May 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Highland Park. Licensed veterinarians will administer the rabies vaccine at a cost of $5 for each dog or cat. For safety, all animals must be on a leash or in a pet carrier.
St. Patrick School presents MayFest 2001
St. Patrick School will hold MayFest 2001 on May 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the school. There will be great food, raffles, games, hay rides, a silent auction and live entertainment. The school is located at 2700 Davis St. in Meridian. The public is invited to attend. For information, call 482-6044.
MSO to present final concert of season
The Meridian Symphony Orchestra will present the fifth and final concert of the 40th Anniversary Season May 5 at 8 p.m. The concert will be held in the Emma McCain Theatre at Meridian Community College. A pre-concert lecture led by Maestro Claire Fox Hillard begins at 7 p.m. in the Casteel Gallery. The concert is entitled "40th Anniversary Grand Finale."

SuperStop Stompers to host fish fry
The SuperStop Stompers will sponsor a fish fry and bake sale on May 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the SuperStop main office at 5625 Old Highway 80 West.
Each carry-out plate will have fish, french fries, coleslaw, roll and drink for $6. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Tickets can be purchased at any SuperStop store, or call 483-8291 to order your tickets by phone.
Redistricting Committee to meet in Meridian
A series of public hearings during May has been scheduled to receive citizens' input into the future shape of Mississippi's congressional and legislative districts. The committee is scheduled to meet in Meridian on May 19, at 5 p.m., at Meridian Community College. The public is invited to attend.
