2 requested parole
MONTGOMERY—Two inmates from Franklin County had parole hearings last week, including one serving 40 years for a Franklin County manslaughter conviction.
• Shannon Dale Gargis, 39, is serving two 20-year sentences for convictions in 2018 of manslaughter rand aggravated child abuse, according to Alabama Department of Corrections records.
The sentences are to be served consecutively for a total of 40 years, according to corrections records.
Gargis was charged with capital murder of a child under 14 but was convicted of manslaughter and aggravated child abuse, according to court records. He has served 10 years, 3 months and 25 days, according to corrections records.
• Micah Chauncey Brown, 43, is serving a 20-year sentence on a Franklin County conviction of first-degree theft of property, according to records.
He has prior convictions for robbery, burglary and breaking and entering a vehicle in the county. Brown has served 10 years, 7 months and 10 days.
