Phil Campbell moves to 5-2 on season

After two straight losses to open the season, the Phil Campbell Bobcats found their stride winning five straight, including four last week.

The Bobcats got road wins at Winston County 12-2 and at Haleyville 7-6. At home on Saturday, Phil Campbell beat Sulligent 13-1 and Covenant Christian 10-1.

Against Winston County, Phil Campbell scored 12 runs on 13 hits. Chandler Benford led the way with a three-hit night. Benford doubled, had four RBIs and scored a run. Hagen Raper and Bentley Morgan also had two hits each. Raper, Isaac Duboise, Sage Morgan, and Kye Baker all scored two runs each.

Duboise got the win on the mound, allowing just three hits and striking out four.

Against Haleyville, Benford’s bat remained hot with a single, double, three RBIs and a run scored. Raper scored twice.

The Duboise brothers combined for the win on the mound. Isaac started the game and went three innings, giving up three hits, four runs and striking out three. Miles with three and two-thirds innings allowing three hits, two runs and stuck out three. Benford closed the game out with a strikeout.

Against Sulligent, Phil Campbell scored 13 runs on eight hits. Sulligent also had pitching woes, walking eight.

Jack Owens had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run. Isaac Duboise, Benford, Keeton Baker, Kye Baker and Morgan all scored two runs each.

On the mound, Eli Tyra allowed just one run and four hits. Cody Sneed struck out five.

Against Covenant Christian, Isaac Duboise had a big game at the plate with a double and a home run. Duboise had four RBIs. Shooter Motes had a single, double and two RBIs. Raper and Benford scored twice.

The Bobcat went to the mound by committee with Morgan, Sneed, Owens and Tyra all getting reps. Morgan struck out five and got the win.
