Russellville adult softball summer series ends

The Russellville Park and Recreation adult softball program gathered for its last game July 27 at the John Blackwell Sports Complex across from Sloss Lake. The park welcomed its usual Tuesday players along with an additional team this week. Games continued until after dark. Even after scheduled play was over, two of the teams stayed to play one last game for fun.  The program has continued to grow in popularity over its course, welcoming two teams the first two Tuesdays, three the third week and four to conclude this month’s season. One Tuesday in the month was canceled because of rain.
Although that game will not be rescheduled, staff at the park expressed their gratitude in being able to host four of the five dates. Plans are already being made for the future of adult softball in Russellville.
Aaron Page told players Tuesday night that he and other staff over the fields were looking at heading up something in the fall since summer play was such a hit. This play would potentially take place in September or October and also take place at the John Blackwell Sports Complex. Page expressed gratitude toward players that attended any night and all spectators that showed up to support the players and the community event.
