Beef quality assurance training takes place

The Franklin County Extension and the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association held a beef quality assurance training June 8 at the Northwest Alabama Livestock Auction in Russellville.

Approximately 25 people attended. Among the topics included were animal welfare, biosecurity, animal handling and livestock hauling.

The event is part of a national program to raise consumer confidence through offering proper management techniques and a commitment to quality within every segment of the industry. Attendees took a test to receive three-year nationwide certification.

The program was free. Registration was required. The Franklin County Cattlemen prepared the meal. For questions, contact Regional Extension agent, Ali Gotcher, at 256-332-8880 (office) or 334-752-1718 (cell phone).
