Red Devils fall to Phillips in area games

The Vina Red Devils lost two area contests last week to the Phillips Bears.

In the varsity girls game, Phillips led 21-8 at the end of the first quarter and 37-24 at halftime. The Bears extended their lead to 64-31 at the end of the third quarter en route to a 73-42 win.

Rayleigh Guin and Kaitlyn King led Vina with 13 points and 12 points respectively. King’s points came on four three-pointers. Emma Humphres and Sarah Johnson scored five points each.

Kaitlyn King added three points, Sara Scott two points and Hailey Cantrell two points.

In the varsity boys game, Timmy Newell scored 20 points in an 80-45 loss to Phillips. Phillips led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter and 35-20 at halftime en route to the win.

Following Newell were Jackson Landers with 12 points, Braden Moomaw with eight points and Haze Weatherford with five points.
