RMS hosts annual food drive

Russellville Middle School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and Students Against Destructive Decisions organizations held their 2018 Food Drive recently and collected a total of 1,520 cans for donation.

FCCLA adviser Rachel Agee said through this food drive, the students are able to make a big impact on the community.

“It is really encouraging to see our students find the value in helping others. The generosity of our students is amazing. By giving, they inspire hope and ensure a better future for our community,” Agee said.

Hosting food drives like this gives students a way to practice giving back in school but also know their efforts are affecting the community.

“Giving food isn’t just about making a donation at school; it is much more than that,” FCCLA President Ashlee Moon said. “Giving is about making a difference in people’s lives. I am really proud of what we have done at RMS.”

SADD President Erika Cruz agreed. “You have two hands – one to help yourself and one to help others,” she said. “So, turn your can’ts into cans and your dreams into plans.”
