Jimmy Carl Balentine

Jimmy Carl Balentine, 84 years old, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Nov. 16 at his residence.

Visitation will be held Nov. 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral service will be Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Ted Vafeas officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Jimmy was born April 5, 1934, in Russellville to Arlin and Elizabeth Balentine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Jo Balentine; and his daughter, Shelia Jo Ligon.

Jimmy was part owner of the Radio Shop, president of AL CATV association, former city councilman of Russellville and former fire chief and organized the first Little League team in Russellville. H was once a president of the Rotary Club, owner of Balentine Properties, a member of the UNA Sportsman Club, honorary citizen of Florence, a member of the Knights of Pythias and retired after 39 years of working with Comcast Cable TV.

Mr. Balentine is survived by his sons, Jimmy Carl Balentine Jr. “Butch” and Danny Lee Balentine (Joyce); his grandchildren, Brandon, Jasmine, Paige and Madison; six great-grandchildren; and his special friend and employee, Christie Moye.

Pallbearers will be Rex Burleson, Danny Hendrix, Ray Berry, Mickey Haddock, Ken Patterson and Herman Graham.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sheffield Rotary Club, Knights of Pythias, UNA Sportsman Club and employees of the Radio Shop.

Akins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
