PC wins county baseball tourney

The Phil Campbell Bobcat bats warmed up the bitterly cold Monday night air, winning the Franklin County Tournament by defeating Belgreen 19-0.

The Bobcats racked up 13 hits, including a home run by Joe Hardy, a triple by Austen Baker and doubles by Nate Owens, Brody Nix, Ridge Raper and Peyton Thomas.

Raper, Hardy, and Chase Hutchens each had four RBIs in the finale.

The Bobcats got to the finals by defeating Red Bay 14-1. The game ended on a grand slam home run by Nate Owens. Peyton Thomas also homered in the game, and Ridge Raper and Mike Wrona both doubled.

Thomas went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and scored two runs.

In the other tournament games Monday, Belgreen shut out Vina 10-0.  Anthony Mayberry went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored a run.  Kostner Bryant got the win, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and striking out seven batters.

In the first game of the day, Vina defeated Tharptown 10-5.  Blake Hardin, Austin Harper and Jackson Landers all doubled in the game.  Hardin and Landers each had two RBIs to lead the way for the Red Devils.
