Toys for Tots accepts applications

United Way is holding registration for Toys for Tots through Oct. 25.

Registration will be held at Room in the Inn, located at 2202 Chisholm Road, Florence. Applicants from Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale and Marion counties may register between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

People who have already registered for another Christmas Assistance program do not qualify to participate for Toys for Tots. Children older then 12 years old do not qualify.

Applicants should bring the following items to registration:

  • Social Security Cards – Bring cards for all members of the household, adults and children.
  • One Other Form of Identification – Such as a driver’s license, Medicaid card, Medicare card, birth certificate or immunization card. This is required for every member of the household.
  • Proof of Income – A copy of a current check or current check stub or a letter of benefits will be acceptable if receiving SSI or Social Security. If there is no current income in the household, applicants will be asked to explain and provide proof of residence.
  • Proof of Residence – A copy of a current utility bill, rent receipt or a letter from a landlord.

Children should not accompany parents to registration.

For more information, call the United Way office at 256-764-5892 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
