October is widely heralded as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but there are some who are already painfully aware of it. They’re living through it. For breast cancer fighters and survivors, there’s the Northwest Alabama and Northeast Mississippi Breast Cancer Support Group.

The group will hold its final meeting for 2015 Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Billy R. Crutchfield Center in Red Bay, across from the Red Bay Water Park.

Speakers will include Sandra Barron, survivor; Anna Duncan, ACS community manager and county Relay for Life coordinator; Joan Cleveland, daughter of a survivor; and Brooks Davis, spouse of a survivor.

Entertainment will be provided by Molly Thorn from Campus Country. Refreshments will be provided by Red Bay Hospital. Door prizes will be given.

For more information, call Tina Smith at 256-356-5609.

In the spirit of awareness and support, Red Bay is being encouraged to Paint the town Pink.

Ewing Variety in Red Bay is sponsoring pink bows to help paint the town pink. Anyone may stop by the store to pick up a bow; donations will benefit the support group.
