Residents keep service club organizations thriving

Many communities across the nation have service club organizations in which the citizens of those communities can volunteer to help improve the world.

Russellville is no different, and this month one of those organizations, the Rotary Club, is celebrating 50 years of local service.

The Rotary Club is one of several clubs — including Kiwanis and Lions — that have been helping make Franklin County a better place.

It is not only nice to see organizations like this being willing to help the community, but it is even better to see residents volunteer and keep these organizations going year after year.

Life has changed quite a bit in 50 years, and there is more for people to do these days. It would be easy to allow commitments to these clubs fall to the side.

Fortunately, there are still many residents in Franklin County that find the time to dedicate to these organizations because they want local communities to be the best they can be.

Hopefully that dedication can remain for many more years and these clubs will be able to celebrate a centennial celebration and many more.
