What’s cooking Suzanne?

No matter what the occasion or the time of the year, cake is a wonderful answer to help you celebrate.
Birthday cakes, wedding cakes, holiday cakes or seasonal cakes make a meal or gathering complete.
This week we are offering you some recipes that can be used throughout the months and year after year. Add these to yor recipe book and have them handy when you need them.
Peter Paul Mound Cake
Mix and bake cake as directed on box. Let cool completely. Split layers after cooling.
Filling
1 c. sugar
1 c. whipping cream (save 1/4 cup for frosting)
1 t. vanilla
12 lg. marshmallows
1/2 lg. can or pkg. angel flake coconut
Mix sugar and whipping cream together. Cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and marshmallows. Add coconut. Beat well. Spread between layers.
Frosting
1 stick margarine, melted
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
vanilla
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
Cook the melted margarine,brown sugar, and cocoa together for 2 minutes. Add cream and let mixture come to a boil. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and powdered sugar and cream thoroughly and frost cake.
Quick and Easy Jam Cake
1 box spice cake mix
1 c. raisins
1 c. jam
Mix cake mix according to directions and add raisins and jam. Use German chocolate frosting or Carmel frosting.
Monkey Cake
Put Pecans on bottom of a tube pan, layer cut-up canned biscuits, sugar, cinnamon, and pecans and pour 1/2 c. of melted butter over it. Repeat again. The butter and sugar melts and gets all over biscuits. (this is one of my favorites).
Orange Pound Cake
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. canola oil
2 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
1/2 fluid oz. orange extract
6 eggs(or 6 eggs yolks and 1 c. milk)
Blend ingredients, add eggs one at a time, beating as you to. Bake in a tube pan that has been buttered and floured, that is set at 325. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Chocolate Fudge Cake
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 t. salt
2 sticks oleo
1 c. water
3 T. cocoa
1 t. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. vanilla
Sift flour, sugar, ad salt together in a large bowl. Put oleo, water and cocoa in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and pour over flour mixture.
Add soda, buttermilk, an vanilla. Pour over other mixture and mix well. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Make icing 5 minutes before cake is done. Bake in 9×13" pan.
Icing
1 stick oleo
6 T. milk
3 T. cocoa
1 box powdered sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 t. vanilla
Melt oleo with other ingredients in a pan. Bring to a boil. Pour over cake when taken from oven. (This cake is moist and delicious. Must try).
Grandmother's Pound cake
1 c. butter
1 2/3 c. sugar
5 eggs (large)
2 c. flour
1/2 t. flavoring
Beat butter and oil till creamy, and beat in sugar and eggs. Fold in flour. spread in buttered and floured loaf pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hour at 300.
