Donald Ray Carson, age 65, of Double Springs, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Carson had lived the past 32 years in Double Springs. Previously, Mr. Carson lived in Haleyville. He attended the Assemblies of God church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Lucille Hamby Carson; a brother, David Carson; and a sister, Doris Porter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville with Gary Salters officiating. Interment was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Carson is survived by his wife, Joyce Grace Carson; two children, Donald Dewayne Carson of Double Springs and Pamela Jo Black of Fort Payne; a brother, Dewey Carson of Haleyville; a sister, Della Williams of Haleyville; and four grandchildren, Dustin Carson, Asa Carson, Kayla Carson and Ashlee Carson.

Margaret Anne Courington

Margaret Anne Courington, age 82, of Phil Campbell, passed away January 21, 2007, at Russellville Health Care.
Mrs. Courington was preceded in death by her former husbands, Dr. James A. Jones and Hughes Courington.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Poss and Shawn Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Courington is survived by two sons, James "Buddy" Jones and wife Carolyn, of Gaines, MI, and David Courington of Ft. Worth, Texas; two daughters, Linda Sherman and husband Ed, of Bear Creek, and Sandra Oliver and husband Randy, of Phil Campbell; two sisters, Rosell Southern of Winfield and Jean Self of Haleyville; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Willard E. Dickinson

Willard E. Dickinson, age 78, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007, at ECM Hospital.
Mr. Dickinson was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and a member of Eastside Church of Christ. He was a Korean War Veteran and was retired from Reynolds Metals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Stella Dickinson; a brother, Buren Dickinson; and two sisters, Mattie Keeton and Oneda Poss.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Richardson officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Wray, Bob Hamilton, Charles Rickard, Lex Tiffin, Jack Williams and Jimmy Seay.
Mr. Dickinson is survived by his wife, Joyce Cooper Dickinson; three children, Gene Dickinson and wife Vickie, of Decatur, Nancy Vinson and husband Dennis, of Somerville, and Kathy Hargrove and husband Lanny, of Spruce Pine; two sisters, Maxine Ballard and Marveline Dickinson, both of Russellville; a sister-in-law, Jane Cooper of Russellville; five grandchildren, Brandi Boyd and husband Nicholas, Joshua Vinson and wife Jenny, Adam Dickinson, Daniel Vinson and Andrew Dickinson; a great-grandson, Jackson Vinson; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Thelma Ewing Johnson

Thelma Ewing Johnson, age 86, of Golden, MS, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 12, 1920, in Cherokee County to Allen and Hattie Mann Ewing. She attended Freedom Hills Holy Church of Christ and was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lamar "Moscoe" Johnson; her parents; and ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Red Bay Holy Church of Christ with Bro. Wayne Bumgart and Bro. Billy Credille officiating. Interment was in Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Ewing, Jason Kilgore, Junior Cromeans, Euzell Ewing and Stoney Ewing.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Allen C. Johnson and wife Barbara, of Golden, MS; one brother, J.W. Ewing of Golden, MS; two granddaughters, Tina Morrow and husband John, of Tremont, MS, and Regina Holland and husband Randall, of Red Bay; six great-grandchildren, Tara Baggett, Curtis Morrow, Sara Beth Morrow, Grant Holland, Maddie Holland and Jacob Holland; and a special friend and caregiver, Lori Underwood.

Billy Tate Kennedy

Billy Tate Kennedy, age 70, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Red Bay Hospital.
He was born February 15, 1936, in Brewer, MS, to Billie and Marianna Tate Kennedy. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. He was an avid fox hunter, and his awards included Master's Fox Hunting Hall of Fame, Dog Hunting Hall of Fame, American Fox Hunter's Hall of Fame, and Squirrel Dog Hall of Fame. He won the first All-American Field Trial, which was the most prestigious field trial. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by the governor of Kentucky. He was the National Sales Manager for Sunshine Mills for many years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Jimmie Kennedy and Zora and Romie Tate; his parents; and his first wife, Gwendolyn Turner Kennedy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007, at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, with Turner Paseur and Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ed McKinney, Robert Godfrey, Brooks Davis, Hal Keeton, Tony Homan, James "Bubba" Lane, Gary Morman, Jimmy Bragwell and Fred Walker. Honorary bearers were fellow foxhunters Wylie Russell, M.K. Stegall, Don Willis, Doug Conwill and Jones Brandon.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife, Peggy Kennedy; three sons, Mickey Kennedy and wife Susan, Scotty Kennedy, and Brad Kennedy and wife Jacqueline, all of Red Bay; two daughters, Suzanne White and husband Rex, of Red Bay, and Marianna Jordan and husband Bill, of Florence; three step-sons, Dawson Blackshear and wife Monica, and Lee Blackshear and wife Terri, of Callahan, FL, and Eddie Blackshear and wife Debbie, of Jacksonville, FL; one stepdaughter, Johnna Bole and husband Bob, of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Tyler Pickering, Clair Kennedy and Madonna Credille, all of Red Bay, and Will and Matt Jordan, both of Florence; twelve step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Martha Ann Berry Lilly, age 72, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007.
Mrs. Lilly was a native of Hackleburg, where she was a member of Congregational Church. She was employed as a Histology Technician for C.D.C. Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Elmer and Mary Hall Berry; three brothers, Oliver Benny Berry, Rev. Raymond Berry, and J.E. Berry; and a sister, Alice Faye Fredrick.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Clint Busler officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Congregational Cemetery in Hackleburg.
Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lilly is survived by two sons, Randy A. Bey of Hazel Green, and Thomas Morton and his wife, of Minnesota; two daughters, Teresa Bey Bennett and husband Oliver, of Huntsville, and Katie Lindsey Smith of Hackleburg; one sister, Ellen Mae Parton of Boligee, AL; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lillie Belle Miller, age 86, of Red Bay, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Red Bay Hospital.
Mrs. Miller was born October 13, 1920, in Marion County, to John Clarence and Vera M. Tyra Emerson. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Rosa Emerson; one sister, Angelene Holley; and two brothers, Arlon Emerson and Billy Joe Emerson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Billy Nichols and Bro. Mark McCraney officiating. Interment was in Shottsville Cemetery.

Hollie Glen Saint, age 63, of Russellville, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007.
Glen was known as "Pee Wee" when he worked at Reynolds Metals Company, and when he worked at GoldKist he was known as "Pop.' He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service medal, National Defense Service medal, and the Good Conduct medal. He was preceded in death by his father, Hollis Saint; and brother, William Edward Saint.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethsaida Baptist Church with Bro. Stanley Hargett and Bro. Eugene Britnell officiating. Interment will be in Bethsaida Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Boyd, J.L. McCluskey, Doug Pounders, Raymond Clement, Kenneth Clement, Ronald Holland, Thomas Wayne Murray and Willie Counts.
Mr. Saint is survived by his wife, Terri Brown Saint; a daughter, Sherrie Saint of Nashville, TN; his mother, Eloise Saint of Russellville; a brother, Jackie Saint and wife Janie, of Russellville; and eight nieces and nephews.

Danny Ray "Rod" Wilson, age 56, of Golden, MS, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in Itawamba County, MS.
He was born June 20, 1950, in Franklin County, to Harvey and Lois Humphries Wilson. He was a mechanic for Strickland Garage and was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Tony Wood officiating. Interment was in Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Frederick, Michael Frederick, Chuck Humphries, Nicholas Webb, Stewart Ozbirn and Stacy Ozbirn.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Patricia Wilson; two daughters, Lena Powell and husband Billy, of Red Bay, and Mylodi Hall and husband Brandon, of Golden, MS; two grandchildren, Mason Jones and Chloe Hall, both of Golden, MS; and six brothers and sisters, Harold Wilson, Sue Self, Carolyn Tessener, Donnie Wilson, Marion Wilson and Phillip Wilson.
