Bobcats fall to Cherokee

Pierre Goodloe had 25 points and Dominique Croom added 24 on Tuesday as Cherokee rode a big third-quarter run to a 78-58 victory over Phil Campbell in Class 2A, Area 16 action.
The Bobcats (3-2, 0-1) trailed by just three at halftime before the Indians out-scored them 21-6 in the third quarter.
Jay Steward led Phil Campbell with 12 points, and Caleb Thompson added 10. Jonathan Dill finished with eight points, and Chase Hutcheson had seven.
Junior Long added 12 points for Cherokee (4-0).
The Bobcats will host Hamilton on Saturday.

Covenant Christian 77 Belgreen 64
Jameson Hughston had 22 points on Tuesday as the Eagles built an early lead and then held on to beat the Bulldogs in Class 1A, Area 16 action.
Brent Newell finished with 17 points to lead Belgreen (3-3, 2-1), which trailed 16-11 after one quarter and 36-26 at the half.
Michael Wilson added 12 points for the Bulldogs, and Kyle Warren had eight. Taylor Hester, Lucas Albert and Shane Fretwell each scored seven, and Marty Britton had six.
Brett Waldrep added 15 points for Covenant Christian.
Belgreen will play at Tharptown tonight.
Waterloo 47 Vina 31
The Cougars used a big second half to pull away from the Red Devils in Tuesday's Class 1A, Area 16 battle.
Will McFall had 14 points for Waterloo, which led by just six at the half before out-scoring Vina 13-8 in the third quarter and 12-5 in the fourth.
Blake Thorn led the Red Devils (1-4) with nine points, and Anthony Hester added seven.
Mars Hill 70 Red Bay 41
Josh Pearson, Mark Vanhorn and Garrett Turner each had 10 points on Tuesday as the Panthers used a balanced scoring attack and a big second half to pull away from Red Bay.
Justin Page had 12 points to lead the Tigers (1-1, 0-1 Class 2A, Area 16), and Pablo Makepeace added 10.
Mars Hill led 37-24 at halftime before out-scoring Red Bay 16-8 in the third quarter and 17-9 in the fourth.
