Ruth Mae Smith Shewbart
November 10, 2006
Ruth Mae Smith Shewbart, age 87, of Vina, passed away Friday, November 10, 2006, at Red Bay Hospital.
Mrs. Shewbart was born November 10, 1919, in Alabama to Mel and Emma Long King. She had been an employee in the office of the Haleyville Hospital. She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Paul Smith; two brothers, Rubert King and Arless King; and her first husband, Paul M. Smith.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Hindman and Bro. Kenny Partain officiating. Interment was in Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville.
Pallbearers were Scottie Smith, Anthony Smith, Jason Stephenson, Danny Shewbart, Forby Collum and Johnny Hargett.
Mrs. Shewbart is survived by her husband, Walter Shewbart, Jr. of Vina; two sons, Roger D. Smith of Alabaster, and Lyndon Smith and wife Odella, of Trussville; three step-daughters, Diana Marcello and husband Bruce, of Miami, Florida, Renee Harris of Red Bay, and Martha Holt and husband Jackie, of Florence; two sisters, Ottie Partain of Haleyville and Dean Schrimpter of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Scottie R. Smith and wife Kelley, of Huntsville, and Anthony L. Smith of Trussville; four step-grandchildren, Brittney Day of Vina, Heather Marcello and Justin Marcello, both of Miami, Florida, and Jason Marcello of Maryland; and two great-grandchildren, Evan Paul Smith of Hoover and Garrett Scott Smith of Madison.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
