Vina slams four homers in rout of Speake

Vina pounded out 17 hits, including four home runs, on Saturday en route to blasting visiting Speake 15-5.
Luke Childers hit a two-run homer for the Red Devils (4-1), and Corey Scott, Rodney Barnes and Kyle Green each added solo shots in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Gary Taylor had a two-run double in the second inning as Vina jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and Childers' two-run blast highlighted the Red Devils' seven-run third inning.
Speake trimmed the lead to 10-5, but Vina scored once in the bottom of the fourth and four times in the fifth to put the game away.
Barnes (1-0) earned the win, allowing four earned runs on five hits in three innings while striking out six.
Taylor pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits.
Max Weeks finished 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Scott was 3-for-4, and Barnes and Green each added two hits.
Childers finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Vina's scheduled doubleheader at Winston County on Monday was rained out.

Kevin Lacey and Steven Lacey each had RBI singles in the top of the seventh inning as the Bobcats won on Saturday at the Indian Invitational.
Randy Cochran doubled with two outs in the seventh and scored on a single by Kevin Lacey to break a 4-4 tie.
Cochran finished with two hits and was also the winning pitcher for the Bobcats (3-3).
Sheffield 8 Phil Campbell 5
Griffin Harris had two hits for the Bobcats in Saturday's loss at the Indian Invitational.
Jeremy Nance struck out five and allowed four hits in five innings to earn the win for the Bulldogs, who went on to claim the tournament title.
Florence 18 Russellville 16
Steele Myrick had three hits and Ty Maloney hit a two-run homer as Florence held off Russellville on Saturday at the Pepsi Invitational at Deshler.
The Falcons (2-4) led 17-6 before a late rally by the Golden Tigers.
Maloney, Jacob Fowler, Scott Trousdale and William Elkins each had two hits.
Wilson 9 Russellville 5
Max Rhodes had two hits, including a homer, for the Warriors on Saturday at the Pepsi Invitational.
Chris Strickland earned the win, and Rhodes got the save.
