Belgreen girls cruise to win

BELGREEN - Amanda Hester had 14 points and Kala Dill added 10 on Friday as the Belgreen Lady Bulldogs bounced back from a lopsided loss to county rival Red Bay with a 46-23 rout of Colbert Heights.
Belgreen (5-2, 3-2 Class 2A, Area 16) held Colbert Heights without a field goal until Meghan McGuire's layup with 2:00 remaining in the first half.
By that time, the Lady Bulldogs had opened up a 23-4 lead.
Hester, Dill and Casey Guinn each scored four points in the first quarter as Belgreen jumped out to a 14-2 lead.
Hester, a senior center, opened the second quarter with a pair of baskets, and a three-point play by Dill stretched Belgreen's lead to 23-2.
The two teams traded baskets for the rest of the quarter, with Mary Stutts' baseline jumper giving the Lady Bulldogs a 27-6 halftime lead.
Guinn finished with seven points for Belgreen, and Candace Allen added four.
Mary Billingham had three points, and Stutts, Monica Smith, Tiffany Parker and Holly Nichols each added two.
McGuire led Colbert Heights with six points, and Dee Kimbrough added four.
