New campground on Cedar now open

By Staff

Franklin County has long been known for its beautiful wooded areas and crystal blue lakes.
Whether it be Big Bear, Little Bear or Cedar Creek, there has never been a shortage of outdoor activities available to sportsmen. The only problem is that much of it has been limited to seasonal activities.
Now, for the first time, there is a campground that will be open year-round. Cedar Ridge Campground, located on Cedar Lake, has already filled many of its 30 campsites with monthly residents.
The pristine camping area is located in a secluded wooded area off of Highway 24 just outside of Belgreen.
The campground includes all the amenities that a campsite could offer, including electric, water, barbecue grills, picnic tables and a dumping station.
The office at Cedar Ridge features a fully stocked bath house that includes a washer and dryer and a game room with a pool table, ping pong table and satellite television.
The land has been in the family for many years and was all grown up when the Hargetts decided to build the campground.
The privately owned area sits .2 miles from a full boat ramp and dock.
Hargett and his wife, Wanda, and their three children, Eric, Abby and Brandi, have also stocked the office with a microwave and plenty of canned food for campers to use.
