    Retired
    UNION Services for Linda Anne Burroughs will be held today at 2 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church with the Revs. Barry Skelton and Bill Webb officiating. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Ms. Burroughs, 58, of Union, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in her home. She was an active member of Union United Methodist Church. She retired from the Union Public School System after more than 30 years. She was a talented artist and enjoyed teaching art and working with children.
    Survivors include her son, Ashley Burroughs and his wife, Jodie, of Union; her mother, Dorothy Johnson of Union; her mother-in-law, Marie Burroughs of Decatur and a cousin, Gayle White Ferrill and her husband, James, of Birmingham, Ala.; and several other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edmund Burroughs; her father, Edwin Johnson and her father-in-law, Carl Hall Burroughs.
    Pallbearers will be Joe Williams, Mike Staton, Stuart Branning, Harold Smith and Kent Burroughs.
    Homemaker
    NEWTON Services for Leyla Simkins McMullan will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Rives officiating. Burial will be in Decatur.
    Mrs. McMullan, 93, of Decatur, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Hospice in His Hands in Madden. She was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church in Decatur and was one of the church's oldest members.
    Survivors include her son, William Simkins and his wife Sue of Decatur; a daughter, Carole Morrison and her husband David of Ocean Springs; a sister, Ruth Livingston of Gulfport; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, Langston Simkins and Singleton McMullan.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired
    QUITMAN Graveside services for Nora Thomas will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Piquah Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Thomas, 87, of Enterprise, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman.
    Survivors include her son, Kenneth Thomas of Washington; a brother, James Benton Satcher of Wilmington, Del., and sister, Lucille Haynes of Satsuma, Ala., and two grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    Homemaker
    MACON Services for Mamie L. Oats Brandy will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Second Running Water Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Tyrone Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery in Shuqualak. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Brandy, 79, of Shuqualak, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Riley Hospital. She was a member of Second Running Water Missionary Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her daughters, LeDan Mathews of Portland, Ore, Bernice Peoples of Detroit, and Patsy Shields, Shirley Seabrum and Mary Lewis, all of Shuqualak; sons, Robert L. Stevenson of Queens, N.Y., and Johnny Oats of Shuqualak; two God-children, Derome Mosley and Glenn Pendergrass of Shuqualak; and a sister, Linda Ford of Eupora.
    Pallbearers will be family and friends.
    Visitation will be today from noon-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Painter
    Services for Charles F. Howse will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Howse officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Howse, 79, of Meridian, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
    Survivors include his sons, Franklin Howse and his wife, Melanie, and Dwight Howse, all of Meridian; daughters, Debra Raines and Cheryl Lundy and her husband, Joe, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Landon Riley Howse, Mitchell Slade Thompson, Emiley Rose Howse, Christopher Gardner, Brandy Torrence, Victoria Raines, Krystal Lundy and Michael Lundy; brothers, Thomas Howse of Petal and Woodrow Howse of Monroe, La., and a sister, Elizabeth Adkins of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
