Those who attend the upcoming Red Dress Event likely will be entertained at the same time they are reminded that the point of the event is to raise awareness of heart disease among women. On Feb. 22, Meridian Community Living Center and Bonita Lakes Mall will host the event from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Meeting Place inside the mall. Admission is $5.
The event will feature a fashion show in which 20 to 25 women from the community will model red dresses. Following the show, Dr. Scott Joransen, a cardiologist with Meridian Medical Associates, will talk about heart disease.
The event is being held in February because the month is designated as Heart Awareness Month.
