Services for Earl Lamar Williams will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. He was well known as the evangelist at Bonita Lakes Mall. His life was devoted to witnessing and leading countless souls to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an active member and deacon of Countryside Baptist Church. He recently retired from Lockheed Martin after 33 years of outstanding service. He also was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. During his service in the U.S. Navy he was All Navy and Marines Boxing Champion and still holds the fastest knockout record for the armed services.
Survivors include his children, Teri Bishop, Marty Williams, Brenda Williams Bringhurst, and Twila Williams Silverman; his grandchildren, Whitney Bishop and Jo Anne Williams; his sons-in-law, Robert Silverman and Jason Bringhurst; a sister, Joyce Atterholt; and a brother, Dr. Ervin Williams.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.
QUITMAN Graveside services for William Daniel Volking Jr. will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Archusa Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dennis Coats officiating. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Volking, 73, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in his home. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was born in New Orleans on March 8, 1930.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary Volking of Quitman; sons, Craig Volking and his wife, Tonia, of Enterprise, and Daniel Cane of Bay Minette, Ala.; daughters, Sandra Burnett and her husband, David, of Prattville, Ala., Susan Gudmundson of Alameda, Calf., Lisa Glenn and her husband, Duane, of Pass Christian, Sally Bishop and her husband, Wayne, of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, and Mary Smith and her husband, Kippy, of Quitman; a brother, Ronnie Volking of Biloxi; a sister, Mable Grace Sanders of Quitman; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Mable Volking; a sister, Sara Peirsol; a son, Ricky Volking; a daughter, Valerie Ford, and a grandson, Jason Gudmundson.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Willis Monroe King, of Bastrop, La., who died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Hillview Nursing Center in Bastrop.
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Leo Holliday, 80, of DeKalb, who died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
