Longtime Lauderdale County Coroner
Services for Marl C. Cobler Jr., will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Harrison, Dennis Duvall, and Jason Bird officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Cobler, 81, of Meridian, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He was a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. He served the Lauderdale County Coroner's office for 44 years, 20 as deputy coroner and 24 years as coroner. He was a member of St. Johns Blue Lodge, York Rite, and Hamasa Shrine. He also was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Meridian Organ Club and numerous other civic clubs.
Survivors include his wife, Kitty Keene Cobler of Meridian; two daughters, Lynda Barrentine and her husband, Wayne, of Atlanta, and Sandra Hammon and her husband, Randy, of Meridian; a son, Marl Clayton Cobler III, and his wife, Lou, of Meridian; five grandchildren, David Wiley, Donna Raines, Mandy Haynes, Blake Hammon and Kelly Cobler; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Cobler and his wife, Agnus, of Buffalo, N.Y.; a special niece, Marylyan Gladstein and her husband, Andy; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marl C. Cobler Sr., and Mable G. Cobler.
Pallbearers will be Randy Hammon, Blake Hammon, Frank Evans, Andy Gladstein, Eddie Ivy, R.W. Stokley, and Jeff Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Davenport, Dr. Janet Price, Dr. Stephen Hayne, Dr. Brooks Gray, and Jimmy Roberts.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Earl Lamar Williams will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. He was well known as the evangelist at Bonita Lakes Mall. His life was devoted to witnessing and leading countless souls to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an active member and deacon of Countryside Baptist Church. He recently retired from Lockheed Martin after 33 years of outstanding service. He also was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. During his service in the U.S. Navy he was All Navy and Marines Boxing Champion and still holds the fastest knockout record for the armed services.
Survivors include his children, Teri Bishop, Marty Williams, Brenda Williams Bringhurst, and Twila Williams Silverman; his grandchildren, Whitney Bishop and Jo Anne Williams; his sons-in-law, Robert Silverman and Jason Bringhurst; a sister, Joyce Atterholt; and a brother, Dr. Ervin Williams.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services Saturday.
