    Obituaries for Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003

    Services for Emzella Sharp were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Hunt and John Gerald officiating. Burial will be in the Sharp Memorial Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery in Suqualena.
    Mrs. Sharp, 84, of Collinsville, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Guardian Angel Hospice. She was an active member of Sharp Memorial Methodist Protestant Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Rupert Sharp; two daughters, Debbie Little and her husband, Jeff, and Sandy Metrolis and her husband, George; a son, Mark Sharp and his wife, Mary Ruth, all of Collinsville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Charlene Wilson of Hattiesburg, Alice Chisolm of Pensacola, Fla., and Kate Gordon of Oregon; and a brother, Lavon Welch of Purvis.
    She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelda Sharp; a son, Shelby Lynn Sharp; and three grandchildren.
    Pallbearers were Richie Little, Lance Dean, Chuck Metrolis, Gill Sharp, Brian Sharp and Michael Garcia.

    Graveside services for Dorothy D. Smith will be held today at 2 p.m. at Energy Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Allen officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Smith, 73, of the Energy community, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Energy Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Dianne Hentges of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a son, Robert Donald Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; three brothers, Joseph Dearman of Alexandria, La., and Clyde Dearman and Leroy Dearman, both of the Energy community; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
    Graveside services for Willie R. Weeks will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Pearing officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Weeks, 98, of Lauderdale, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include a nephew, Harold Wood and his wife, Barbara, of Mobile, Ala.; three nieces, Rita McGinnis and her husband, Bill, of Birmingham, Ala., Evelyn Edwards and her husband, Jim, of Meridian, and Barbara Fuller of Kewanee; three great-nephews, Blair Wood and his wife, Jee, of New Jersey, Eddie Fuller and his wife, Tracey, of Meridian, and James Edwards of Meridian; a great niece, Vivianne Davis and her husband, Dale, of Cocoa, Fla.; two great-great nephews, Cody Fuller of Meridian and Dustin Davis of Cocoa; three great-great-nieces, Katie Edwards of Tylertown and Hannah and Sarah Davis of Cocoa; several cousins; and special friends, Robert Seale, The Alabama Boys, Sue Clay and Ruthie Wood.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Weeks.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Buddy Dees will be held today at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Beam officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
    Mr. Dees, 74, of Philadelphia, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was owner and operator of D&W, Inc., in the Williamsville community. He was a native of Neshoba COunty and a longtime resident of the Williamsville community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and he served in the U.S. Army. He was a former member of the Neshoba County Fair Association Board and was very active in the horse racing program at the fair.
    Survivors include his wife, Peggy Dees of Philadelphia; a daughter, Jane Dees Crosswhite of Brandon; a son, Bud Dees of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Chip, Emily and Caroline Dees and Chad and Clay Crosswhite; two sisters, Mary Posey of Philadelphia and Johnnie Coulson of Brandon; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers will be Chip Dees, Clay Crosswhite, Chad Crosswhite, Rudy Posey, Wes Williams and Frank Trapp.
    Honorary pallbearers will be employees of D&W, Inc.
    Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

    MACON Graveside services for Lorene Douglass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Oddfellows Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Mapp officiating. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Douglass, 97, of Louisville, formerly of Macon, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Winston County Medical Center in Louisville.
    Survivors include a son, Lee Douglass of Louisville; and a grandson, Leonard Douglass of Huntington Beach, Calif.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Douglass Jr.
    Memorials may be made to X-Prairie Methodist Church.
    Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
    Retired
    Services for Norma Ballinger Hurt will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Homer Peden officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
    Mrs. Hurt, 75, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired bookkeeper of 45 years for McGinnis Lumber Co. She was a graduate of Meridian Community College and was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Hatcher of Meridian and Tammy Guthrie of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Grant Hatcher and Chase Hatcher, both of Meridian; and a sister, Juanice Peden of Hattiesburg.
    Visitation will be today from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired Licensed Practical Nurse
    Services for Marjorie Thomas Parmley will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Jones Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Ron Leonard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Parmley, 72, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., formerly of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Palm Beach Gardens.
    Survivors include her daughter, Donna Bailey of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons, Kenneth Parmley of Hueytown, Ala. and Paul Parmley, of Miami; grandchildren, Shane Parmley, Esther Gausepohl, Chris Parmley and Tracy Whitman; great-grandchildren, Kaley Parmley and Trevor Whitman; sisters, Nell Ishee of Jackson, Joann Partridge, Janice DeWeese and Ruth Rush, all of Meridian; brothers, James "Bud" Thomas and Ray Thomas, both of Meridian.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Bessie Thomas; sisters, Juanita Thomas and Beatrice Lee.
    Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association, 4900 No. 3 Poplar Springs Dr. Meridian, MS 39305.
    Pallbearers will be Doug DeWeese, Keith Thomas, David Ishee, Steve Brewster, Lamar McDonald and Jerry Thomas.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    ELKIN, N.C. Graveside services for Betty Jane Sanders Sullivan will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin with the Rev. Charles Lethcoe officiating. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
    Mrs. Sullivan, 60, of Elkin, formerly of Meridian, Miss., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center.
    Survivors include a brother, William Sanders and his wife, Joan, of Elkin; a sister, Lynda Sanders of State Road; her stepmother, Louise Sanders of Meridian; and her nephews, Nolan Sanders and his wife, Adrianne, Ben Sanders and Allen Sanders.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 1901 South Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.
    Visitation will be today from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
