A Meridian man has been charged with aggravated assault and is in jail on $20,000 bond after allegedly injuring a 16-year-old boy with a .12 gauge shotgun.
Anton Ford, 21, of 1653 Lizzie Road, was arrested Thursday by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said deputies and Metro Ambulance responded to a reported shooting at 11:43 a.m. Thursday on Lizzie Road, off Highway 19 South.
The sheriff said the victim was hit in the cheek with a pellet of bird shot.
Sollie said the incident appears to have resulted from an ongoing conflict between people who live in the area where the shooting happened. Sollie would not release the name of the victim because he is a juvenile, but said he lives in another part of Lauderdale County.
