STARKVILLE Mississippi State kicked off its 104th football season Saturday night at Scott Field against Oregon, but to many of the 52,856 in attendance it seemed like a rerun of the last two years.
The Bulldogs put together a season's worth of lowlights in the first quarter alone as they quickly fell behind the Ducks 28-0.
Before the game was over, the Bulldogs would make some noise of their own before falling 42-34 in the season opener for both teams.
Oregon put three touchdowns on the scoreboard in less than 10 minutes to start the contest. State, meanwhile, stumbled on defense, fumbled on offense, and showed much of the ineptness that's been dominant both of the last two seasons.
