WASHINGTON Federal loans and grants announced Tuesday will help improve water service in two East Mississippi counties, according to U.S. Sen. Trent Lott, and U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering.
In Newton County, the town of Hickory will use a loan of $560,000 and a grant of $200,000 to construct a new well, ground storage tank, and to make distribution improvements to its water system. Eight new users will also be added to the system.
In Scott County, the C &C Water Association will use a loan of $151,700 and a grant of $208,300 to add an elevated storage tank, doubling the capacity of the system.
