NAMI introduces new education group
By Staff
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill introduced a new education group called Visions for Tomorrow at a teacher training session Friday in Meridian.
The group is for direct primary caregivers of children and adolescents diagnosed with brain disorders, as well as those who exhibit behavior that strongly suggests such a diagnosis.
NAMI is an educational and advocacy group that works to change public opinion about mental illness.
The local chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month. Members are planning a 12-week educational group beginning in September called "Family to Family" to educate people about mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.
