A Meridian man has been charged with DUI manslaughter in the death of a passenger in his car, 20-year-old Jerrod Haguewood of Meridian. A second passenger, 18-year-old Ron Warbington of Meridian, was not seriously injured. The accident occurred Sunday between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.
The driver, 19-year-old Russell A. Carr Jr. of 1872 Highway 19 South, was arrested at the scene and released later that day on $25,000 bond.
Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said Carr was driving west on Vimville-Causeyville Road near Highway 19 South when his vehicle left the road and overturned. Haguewood and Warbington were ejected from the vehicle. Sheriff Billy Sollie said accident reconstructionists are investigating the scene.
