    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, NOV. 22, 2001

    RICHARD MARSHALL MCALISTER SR.
    Services for Richard Marshall McAlister Sr. will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Kevin Jones officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
    Mr. McAlister, 90, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in his home. He was an active member of State Boulevard Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities, among them Sunday school superintendent and teacher for more than 40 years.
    He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
    After WW II, Mr. McAlister was a teacher and principal at Meehan School. Later, he worked as a bookkeeper with Miami Window Corporation and as a security guard at Rush Foundation Hospital before retirement.
    A lover of baseball, Mr. McAlister was a standout catcher for the Meridian High Wildcats, the Moss Specials a semi-pro team, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
    Survivors include his wife, Mazelle Moore McAlister of Meridian; a daughter, Sue Ammon and her husband, Jake Ammon; a son, Dr. Richie McAlister and his wife, Alma; six grandchildren, Leigh and Paige Ammon, Mandy, Richie, Katie and Rusty McAlister, all of Collinsville.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Memmon McAlister and Helen Edwards McAlister.
    Pallbearers will be Terry Cross, Bobby Scitzs, George May, Esco Johnson, Eddie Smith and B.L. Morland.
    Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    RAY GRIFFITH
    Retired truck driver and mechanic
    Graveside services for Ray Griffith will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Kevin Jones officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Griffith, 78, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Clara Griffith, a son, Brian Griffith and a daughter, Amanda Griffith, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Blake Griffith and Julie Griffith; stepsons, Robert Singleton and David Singleton; a brother, Jack Griffith; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Grace Griffith; and two brothers, Judson and Raymond Griffith.
    Pallbearers will be Brad Gressett, James Smith, Donnie Bracken, Jackie Griffith, Edgar Bracken and Kinnie Ford.
    Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    TROY EDWARD BARNES

    Services for Troy Edward Barnes will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Sanders and Buddy Braddock officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Barnes, 69, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, Ala. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Barnes was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of Hamasa Temple.
    Survivors include his wife, Joan R. Barnes, and a daughter, Teresa Ann Coffman and her husband, Wade, all of Meridian; a son, Troy E. Barnes II of Dallas; two grandchildren, Sean Troy Coffman and Katelyn Paige Coffman; a brother, James Houston Barnes and his wife, Sheila, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two nieces, Tammy Shierling and her husband, Doug, of Palm Harbour, Fla., and Alisa McClellan and her husband, Bobby, of Waycross, Ga.
    Pallbearers will be John W. "Jay" Boling, Bobby McClellan, Doug Shierling, Larry Knight, John Weeks, Wayne McAllister and Tommy Tucker.
    Honorary pallbearers will be the Hamasa Patrol Unit.
    Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    MATTIE PEARL WILLIAMS
    Services for Mattie Pearl Williams will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sunflower Baptist Church in Scooba with the Rev. Billy Hurst officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Williams, 70, of Scooba, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean Nicholson and Terry Williams, both of Scooba; four sons, Bobby Williams of Emelle, Ala., Perry Williams of Columbia, S.C., Tyrone Williams of Waynesville, Mo., and Paul Williams of Scooba; two brothers, Ollie Giggs and Lonnie Nicholson of Scooba.
    Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    DOROTHY TURNIPSEED
    Services were incomplete at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko for Dorothy Turnipseed, 79, of Meridian, who died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
