    OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2001

    LEANDER L. PRICE
    Retired grocery store owner/farmer
    Graveside services for Leander L. Price will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Toomsuba Cemetery with the Revs. Duaine Morgan and Jay Cook officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Price, 97, of Toomsuba, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Beverly HealthCare of Broadmoor. He was born July 14, 1903, at the family home in Toomsuba, where he continued to live until January 1997. At the age of 93 he moved to Beverly HealthCare.
    Mr. Price was the youngest child of Lon and Annie Hand Price. He had nine brothers and one sister, all of whom are now deceased. He was affectionately called "Babe" by his family, a nickname that followed him into adulthood.
    He was a retied grocery store owner and farmer. He had also operated an auto repair garage and spent about a year working for Lockheed as a machinist in Ireland during World War II.
    Mr. Price was a member of Toomsuba Baptist Church where he had many positions of leadership. He was a teacher of Men's Bible Study classes for a number of years. He was a Deacon for 59 years. He was also a Mason for 75 years, a member of E.J. Knox Lodge and was past master of the lodge.
    Mr. Price served on the committee which obtained a loan from the Farmer's Home Administration to build a community water system in Toomsuba in 1963. This was the first rural water system in this area and the second in the state of Mississippi. He served as president of the system for a number of years.
    Survivors include a son, Jesse W. "Buddy" Price and his wife, Emma Lou, and a son-in-law, James E. "Sonny" Wright, all of Toomsuba; five grandchildren, Alan Price and his wife, Janet, Jeff Price and his wife, Jan, of Toomsuba, Lu Ann Price Frey and her husband, Toby, of Sheridian, Wyo., Joe Wright and his wife, Louise, of Horn Lake, Jimmy Wright and his wife, Jerri, of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, long time neighbors and faithful friends, Lavelle and Faye Ford of Toomsuba.
    He was preceded in death by his two wives, Laura Thompson Price and Mamie Campbell Williams Price; a daughter, Annie Laura "Bebe" Wright and a great-grandson, Christopher Sullivan.
    The family requests memorials be made to Toomsuba Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 95, Toomsuba, MS 39364 or the Gideon's International, 2900 Lebanon Rd., Nashville, TN 37214.
    Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    WILLIAM ROSS
    Owner/operator Western Auto in Pelahatchie
    MORTON Services for William "Bill" Ross were held Tuesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
    Mr. Ross, 60, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Rankin Medical Center. He was a native of Meridian and had been a resident of Rankin County for the past 30 years. He was a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church and was retired from the Pelahatchie Volunteer Fire Department.
    Survivors include his wife, Pat Ross of Pelahatchie; his foster children, Brooks Shumaker and Brian Shumaker, both of Pearl; an uncle, Jake Davis of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Julia Ross; and two brothers, Maurice Ross and Jimmy Ross.
    The family requests memorials be made to Pelahatchie Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 355, Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
    NINA B. GOODMAN BOOKER
    Retired from Veterans Administration/Lauderdale County Welfare Department
    Services for Nina B. Goodman Booker will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmie Garrard, Danny Balint and Dave Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Booker, 97, of Meridian, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Center. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she served 35 years as church secretary and was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class.
    Survivors include a son, William A. Booker and his wife, Justina, of Meridian; grandchildren, Michael and Tina Booker and Michelle Booker Murphy and her husband, Ken; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Baleigh Booker and Jae Murphy; and a sister-in-law, Sue Goodman.
    She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence Goodman, Willie Goodman, Edward Goodman, Elmer Goodman and Commie Goodman; sisters, Savannah Cranford, Edna Reynolds, Evie Reynolds, Katie Jackson and Irene Buckalew.
    Pallbearers will be Johnny Mack Booker, Oscar Goodman, Wayne Goodman, Ben Dearman, Lonnie Frank Shannon, Arthur Goodman and Chester Willis.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Goodman, Ricky Goodman, Ernest Goodman, James Goodman, Marcel Goodman, Billy Ray Goodman, James Reynolds and John C. Goodman.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
