Lady Eagles take easy win over South Florida in C-USA action

HATTIESBURG Angela Johnson scored 15 points Sunday to lead Southern Mississippi to its first home conference win of the season over the South Florida Lady Bulls at Reed Green Coliseum.
Dana Jones and Victoria Mason each added 10 for the Lady Eagles.
Aiya Shepard scored a game-high 22 points for the Bulls (3-12, 0-5 Conference USA).
Southern Miss outrebounded South Florida 43-27 to make up for 20 turnovers and improve to 9-7 overall, 2-3 in Conference USA play.
The Lady Eagles led 36-18 at the half and opened the second half with a 6-2 spurt that raised the lead to a game-high 22 points.
The Lady Bulls cut the lead to 14 points at 46-32 with a 12-4 run over a 10-minute span.
After notching its 48th point of the contest at the 5:59 mark, Southern Miss didn't score another basket until the 1:52 mark when Johnson hit her third 3-pointer of the game.
South Florida wasn't able to take advantage of the Lady Eagles offensive lull though, as they only were only able to muster one point during the stretch.
