Virginia Schiller

Virginia Annette Schiller, 68, of Tuscumbia, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at ECM Hosptial. She was born November 7, 1941, in Red Bay to Elgar Purvis and Effie Hutcheson Darracott. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Daniel Darracott officiating. Burial was in the Red Bay City Cemetery.
She is survived by her huband of 49 years, Wayne Schiller of Tuscumbia; daughter, Diane Schuck of Madison, Wis.; granddaughter, Maureen Schuck; brothers, Leburt Darracott and wife, Tiny, of Red Bay; Jerrell Darracott and Larry Darracott, and wife, Theda, all of Kenosha, Wis., and Norris Darracott of Fulton, Miss.; aunt, Retha Mae Barnett, of Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Cameron Darracott.
Jerry Holland

Jerry “Tom” Holland, 67, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born February 7, 1943 in Vina to Albert Verona and Letha Elma Pitts Holland. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay with Bro. Eugene Digby officiating. Burial was in the Berry Cemetery in Vina.
He is survived by sisters, Jetta Bowen and husband, Lewis, of Dallas, N.C., Judy Isbell and husband, Paul, of Florence, and Kay Sexton of Lowell, N.C. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlene Taylor and Dorothy Martin; and brothers, Jimmy Wayne Holland and Billy Wade Holland.
Olive Gibson

Olive Mae Gibson, 85, of Red Bay, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Red Bay Hospital. She was born September 25, 1924 in Mississippi to Braxton and Ruby Ryan Rayburn. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Red Bay.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Burial was in the Red Bay City Cemetery.
She is survived by son-in-law, Steve Elliott of Red Bay; grandsons, Brandon Elliott and wife, Rebecca, of Boonesville, Miss., Blake Elliott of Red Bay, and Keith Gibson andn wife, Dana, of Biloxi, Miss.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Chavis Gibson; son, Dennis Gibson, and daughter, Rhonda Gail Elliott.
Pallbearers for the service included Keith Gibson, Randy Elliott, Tracy Elliott, Brandon Elliott, Blake Elliott and Mark Gibson.
Hoke Bradford

Hoke Dwain Bradford, 74, of Haleyville, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his residence. He was a member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church and remembered at the Wal-Mart Store in Haleyville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Marbutt officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Darlene Bradford; children, Brenda Scoggins and Ronnie McCarter; sister, Erena Shelnutt; brother, Venlon Bradford; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd S. Bradford and Mary Emiline Bradford; son, Larry McCarter; and brothers,Troy, Dolphus and Ben Bradford.
Marilyn Cornwell

Marilyn Wanda Cornwell, 63, of Russellville, died Thursday, April 1, 2010.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
She is survived by her mother, Janet Gibson; son, Timothy Long, and wife, Teresa; daughter, Alicia Barkley and husband, Chuck Robinson; finance, Gary Blankenship; five grandchildren, and a host of loving brothers and sisters.

Janet Francis Winkler, 63, Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at her residence.
The visitation will be 6 -8 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at Spry Memorial Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Boyd Woodall. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Mary Cornelison; brother, Will Cornelison, Jr.; sister, Barbara Fortier; nephews, Lee Cornelison, Richard Rodriguez Jr., and Bobby Gene Cornelison.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Winkler; sons, Clyde Winkler II, Robert Winkler, Ralph Winkler; grandchildren, T.J. Pennington, Robert Justin Cornelison, A.J. Proctor; sisters, Wanda Bullock, Betty Rodriguez; nephews, Robert Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez, Mark Bullock, Chuck Bullock, Roger Cornelison, Ray Cornelison, and Roy Cornelison.
The pallbearers will be Robert Cornelison, Mark Bullock, Doug Backman, Robert Rodriguez, A.J. Proctor, and Justin Cornelison. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Bullock, Larry Weeks, T.C., and Don Pennington.
Janet was a loving mother and wife who would give help and assistance to everyone she knew. Her heart was big as the universe and helped one and all. She was loved by all whose hearts she touched.
Robert Adams

Robert Junior Adams, 63, Phil Campbell, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
He was born on Wednesday, October 16, 1946, to Robert and Geneva Adams.
Mr. Adams was a native of Phil Campbell. He was a member, deacon and song leader at Bear Creek Freewill Baptist Church (Chigger Hill).
The visitation was Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service was Friday, April 2, 2010, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Darren Steward and Bro. Stan Galloway officiating.
Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Geneva Adams; two brothers; one sister; and stillborn son, Robert Wayne Adams.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha G. Adams; daughters, Tammy Adams, of Russellville, Linda Hornsby, of Phil Campbell; brother, Bobby Adams, of Bear Creek; sisters, Mary Lou Horton, of Leighton, Linda Miller, of Belgreen, Cathy Presley, of Russellville; five grandchildren, Brad Hornsby, Haley Hornsby, Wade Adams, Andy Pounders and Kinsley Pounders; numerous nieces and nephews and a special great-nephew, Dalton Blalock.
The pallbearers will be family and friends.
We know those who are in Christ never see each other for the last time. The Lord is our strength and song. We are going to miss our songleader.
Gennie “Gene” Hamilton

Gennie “Gene” Hamilton, 70, passed away Friday, March 30, 2010 at Akron City Hospital in Ohio. A native of Russellville, Mr. Hamilton was employed and retired after 38 years of service at Akron Equipment.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife Gwendolyn; son, Gene Hamilton Jr. and wife, Maretta of Akron, Ohio.; daughters, Gwennie Simpson and husband, Kevin, of Akron, Ohio, LaTaunya Conley of Elyria, Ohio, and Henietta Woods and husband, Calvin of Russellville; brothers, Bennie Hamilton and wife, Katie, of Green, Ohio, and James Hamilton and wife, Karen, of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Linda Faye Simpson of Florence; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Watson and husband, Jack, Lillie Hamilton and Louise Hamilton, all of Akron, Ohio; 11grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home in Akron, Ohio with Rev. Willie James officiating. Friends may call at the chapel on Tuesday from 11 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at Mount Peace Cemetery.
