3 Franklin football players land spots on All-State teams
Red Bay standout running back Jaxon Vinson headlined Franklin County football players earning All-State honors.
Vinson earned first team Class 2A honors while Russellville’s Braxton Duncan earned Class 5A honorable mention and Phil Campbell’s Hayston Scott was Class 3A honorable mention.
Vinson helped propel Red Bay to a 9-3 record, to the second round of the playoffs and the Tigers first region championship since 2019. He carried the ball 218 times for 2,038 yards and scored 26 touchdowns this season. He averaged 9.35 yards per carry.
Vinson had over 100 yards rushing in all but one game and he rushed for more than 200 yards in five games. Over the four years of his high school football career, Vinson carried the ball 634 times for 4,820 yards, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. He scored 55 touchdowns.
He was also first team All-Region 8.
Scott, the quarterback for Class 3A Phil Campbell, earned honorable mention honors as an athlete. Scott led the Bobcats to a 6-5 record and a first-round playoff berth. He completed 132 of 210 passes for 1,784 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.
On the ground, Scott carried the ball 128 times for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He was also a first team All-Region 5 selection.
Duncan led Russellville’s defense with 147 tackles. He also had 7.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
