Nov. 23, 2025

Ruby Lee Streetman Britton, 92, of Belgreen passed away Nov. 23. Visitation took place Nov. 25 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville, Alabama. The funeral was directly after in the chapel. Rev. Scott Lindsey conducted, and the service concluded there. Burial was in Belgreen Cemetery.

Ruby was born on April 14, 1933, in Belgreen, Alabama. She lived the majority of her life in Belgreen and was a lifelong member of Belgreen United Methodist Church. She graduated from Belgreen High School in 1951. Ruby was a stay-athome mom and active volunteer at Belgreen High School for many years, serving as PTA President, cheerleader sponsor, and volunteering in many roles with the school.

She was also very active in her church, working with both youth and the elderly. Ruby completed a course in genealogy at Florence State University, now called the University of North Alabama, and was active in the local United Daughters of the Confederacy for many years. She loved traveling to increase her knowledge of genealogy and the history of this area and its people. Most of all, she loved time with her family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Louellen Oliver Streetman and Henry Douglas Streetman; her husband of 46 years, Athel D. Britton; siblings, Mavianea Baker, Tom Streetman, MD Streetman, Maxine West, Buster Streetman, Doug Streetman and Jack Streetman.

She is survived by her son Eddie Britton (Kathy), her daughter, Lisa Miller (Ronnie); grandchildren, Alison Gallman (Pete), David Britton (Tracì), Lori McDonnell (Samuel), Josh Miller (Ashley); 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Watts, Dwight Streetman (Vangie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Decker’s office, and the very loving staff who cared for her at Arabella, as well as Greta and Brittany with Hospice of North Alabama.

If you would like to make donations, please make them to Belgreen Methodist/Landmark church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

And she always ended conversations with, “Tell ’em all hello.”
