Phil Campbell girls basketball gets pair of pre-Christmas wins

The Phil Campbell Bobcats picked up a couple of pre-Christmas wins, beating Carbon Hill 46-44, and Winston County 52-43.

Against Carbon Hill, Phil Campbell jumped out to a 16-10 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs, however, shut down the Bobcats 11-2 in the second quarter and took a 21-18 lead by halftime. Carbon Hill held onto the lead through the third quarter 37-34, but Phil Campbell outpaced the Bulldogs 12-7 in the fourth quarter to take the lead and get the win.

Macy Hardy led Phil Campbell with 16 points, followed by Hannah Welborn with 14 points. Leela Baker added 11 points.

Ayla Stowe finished the game with three points and IsaBell Ashley scored two points.

Against Winston County, Phil Campbell used a dominant second quarter to put away the Yellow Jackets 52-43.

Winston County led 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. Phil Campbell outscored the Yellow Jackets 21-6 in the second quarter to take a 34-24 halftime lead. The Bobcats led 42-35 at the end of the third quarter.

Macy Hardy and Leela Baker led Phil Campbell with 15 points each. Hardy scored 14 of her 15 points in the first half. Sidda Rogers added 11 points.

Hannah Welborn finished the game with seven points, Mia Ambrosio with two points and IsaBell Ashley with two points.
