Spring sports All-State honors

Spring sports All-State honors began going out last week from the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Five local baseball players and two softball players earned top honors.

This list was dominated by local seniors with an eighth grader also on the list.

Phil Campbell baseball landed the most mentions with three players. The Bobcats went to their fourth straight final four this year, losing to Gordo in the semifinals.

Senior catcher Bryant Anthony and senior Robby Robinson landed Class 3A first team honors. Junior pitcher Eli Taylor was named to the second team.

Russellville senior Banks Langston earned Class 5A first team honors while pitcher Logan White was named an honorable mention.

In softball, Belgreen pitcher Lily Blackburn, a junior, earned first team honors. Russellville eighth grader Addison Holcomb earned second team honors.
