Phil Campbell senior signs with University of Tennessee Southern

Phil Campbell senior baseball player Sage Raper signed a scholarship with the University of Tennessee Southern last week.

Raper had a .364 batting average for the Bobcats this year with six doubles, a triple and a home run. He had 23 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

He is part of that Phil Campbell baseball program that has gone to the Class 3A Final Four in the last four seasons and was part of a state championship team in 2021.

Raper is the third player from this senior class to sign a baseball scholarship. Bryant Anthony, Bryant Hyde and Robby Robinson all signed with Northwest-Shoals Community College. Cam Habada is committed to Northwest, but has not yet signed.

His signing is the ninth from the Phil Campbell baseball program in four years. Ridge Raper (Wallace State/UT Southern), Austen Baker (Calhoun), Luke Barnwell (Bevill State Community College), John Miller Lawson (Bevill State Community College) and Mason Swinney (University of Alabama).
