RHS track, field athletes take on season with new coach

A familiar face has taken over the Russellville High School track and field program this season as head coach.

Brett Voss is in his first year leading the team, but many people will recognize him from his duties as a football assistant coach on the offensive side of the ball. Additionally, Voss also had a stint as head coach of the RHS varsity boys’ tennis team.

Russellville has a large number of both boys and girls participating in track and field this season, many talented student-athletes ready to make their school proud while they show their speed, strength and jumping ability.

The Golden Tigers had meets at home March 4 and 17, with another set for March 31. RHS will also compete in meets held in Florence March 24 and April 15 and in Guntersville April 23.

Russellville is in Class 5A, Section 4, with Alexandria, Ardmore, Boaz, Brewer, Crossville, Douglas, East Limestone, Fairview, Guntersville, Lawrence County, Lee-Huntsville, Mae Jemison, Sardis and West Point. The section meet is scheduled for April 29-30 in Guntersville.
