Red Bay advances to regionals

The Red Bay Tigers ran away from the Addison Bulldogs in the fourth quarter to advance to the Northwest Regionals. Red Bay beat Addison 58-47 in the Class 2A subregion and will advance to play Sheffield, which beat Tanner 61-38, Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

“I am really proud of the way we got after it and ran the second half,” said Red Bay Coach John Torisky. “Our two big guys, Landon (Glover) and Lawson (Glover), both had two fouls in the first half. That held us back a little, but we were able to go on a big run in the fourth quarter.

“We like to run and be fast, and we were able to do that successfully.”

Red Bay led Addison 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, and the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 14-9 in the second quarter to take a 25-19 first half lead.

Carson Corum got hot and scored 10 of  Red Bay’s 14 second-quarter points.

Addison cut Red Bay’s lead to 35-32 on a three-pointer with 10 seconds to go in the third quarter.

The Tigers went on a 15-2 run to start the fourth quarter. Four of the first baskets scored in the fourth quarter were from Andrew Ray, who scored 10 points in the final period.

Landon Glover added seven points for Red Bay in the fourth.

Addison would cut Red Bay’s lead to 10 points with three minutes to go, but that was as close as the Bulldogs could get.

Ray led Red Bay with 13 points, followed by Landon Glover with 11 points, Corum 10 points and B.P. Blair with 10 points. Paden Allison finished the game with four points, Lawson Glover three points, Gage Edgmon three points, Cody Carnes two points and Owen Terry two points.
