Music lineup solidifies for Watermelon Festival ’21

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is counting down the days until the 40th Annual Watermelon Festival. This week, the musical entertainment for the festival is being announced.

One artist is being announced each night this week on the Chamber’s Facebook page at 8:21 p.m., with the main headliner to be revealed Saturday night.

“It is fabulous to finally get to announce something positive,” said Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Director Cassie Medley. “After having to cancel last year, it is great to be able to tell people who will be performing and that we are doing the the festival.”

So far, two acts have been announced for Friday night: Tremayne at 6 p.m. and REWIND at 7 p.m.

Medley said the board of directors wanted to have lots of local talent playing at the festival, and these two groups seemed like great choices.

Four spots are still to be announced: the headliner for Friday night at 8:30 p.m. and the 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. time slots for Saturday.

Medley said announcing the lineup for this year’s festival makes it feel real that the festival is going to return.

“We are just so excited to have it back and to be working on it,” Medley said. “I don’t even have the words to describe it.”
