RHS golfer signs with Montevallo

When Russellville’s Eric Boutwell first began playing golf at a young age, he knew that one day he wanted to continue his career at the next level. Now Boutwell’s dream is coming true, as he signed to continue his golf career at the University of Montevallo.

RHS golf coach Patrick Odom said he has seen Boutwell work hard and have the drive to make his talent stretch.

“This all didn’t just happen this morning because we scheduled a signing,” Odom said. “It was a lot of commitment and years of hard work that brought him to this point.”

Boutwell said it was difficult deciding which school to play at, but Montevallo eventually won out because of its prestigious golf trail.

“I feel like that will help get me further,” Boutwell said. “If I want to play at the next level, that is the place to do it.”

Boutwell said his goal is to have a successful college career and, if things are looking up at the end of his time in college, possibly try playing professionally.

“I am just going to see where it all takes me,” Boutwell said. “I am really excited for everything.”

Boutwell will began his time at the University of Montevallo in the fall with a concentration in business.
