Bobcats boys squeak out win over Rogers Pirates

Phil Campbell had four players in double figures in a 66-62 win over the Rogers Pirates this past week.

Mason Swinney led the Bobcats with 17 points. Bryant Hyde and Cam Habada added 14 points each. Luke Garrison finished the game with 12 points.

Rogers led Phil Campbell 16-14 at the end of the first quarter behind three three-pointers by Habada. Phil Campbell claimed the lead at halftime, 28-27. The Bobcats maintained their lead 50-49 at the end of the third quarter.

Blain Goodsen added eight points, and Jonah Fisher added three points.

The Bobcats lost to Deshler 96-68 in the opening game of the Bracy Invitational Saturday.

Deshler jumped out to a 26-15 first quarter lead and led 47-33 at halftime.

Hyde led Phil Campbell with 20 points. Swinney followed with 10 points. Kyle Pace and Canaan Clay scored nine points each. Garrison added seven points. Goodson had five points, and Dylan Jeane got three points.  Fisher and Quentin Hyde scored two points each.

In girls action, Kaitlynn Mills scored 14 points to lead the Phil Campbell Bobcats past the Marion County Red Raiders 56-37.

With the game tied 11-11 at the end of the first quarter, Mills scored seven points in the second quarter to lead the Bobcats to a 24-17 halftime lead.

Phil Campbell extended the lead to 38-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Olivia Taylor and Katie Thomas scored nine points each. Gracie Vickery added five points. Madison Branch and Trinity Thomas scored four points each, and Faith Cook finished the game with two points.
