Phil Campbell Bobcat girls go undefeated in area

The Phil Campbell Bobcats made quick work of East Lawrence 66-30 to go undefeated in their area.

Phil Campbelll blew the game open right off the bat with a 28-2 first quarter lead and never let there be any doubt about the final outcome.

“It’s always great to go undefeated in the area,” said Phil Campbell coach Craig Thomas. “We have a lot of goals during the season, and this is one of them.

“We still have a lot of goals to pursue.”

Olivia Taylor led the Bobcats with 12 points, and Madison Branch followed with 10 points. Faith Cook, Katie Thomas and Vandiver added eight points each.

Phil Campbell 60, Fayette County 29

The Phil Campbell Bobcat defense held Fayette County to 13 points in three quarters on the way to an easy 60-29 win.

Phil Campbell led Fayette County 12-6 lead in the first quarter and 29-10 by halftime.

Taylor led Phil Campbell with 16 points. Kallie Allen and Caitlyn Mills followed with 11 points and 10 points respectively.

Branch and Katie Thomas scored eight points each.

Fayette County 63, Phil Campbell 56

Phil Campbell opened up the game with five straight three-pointers to build a 20-11 lead but couldn’t hang on, losing to Fayette County 63-56.

Fayette County came back to take the lead at halftime, 30-28, and the game was tied 44-44 by the end of the third quarter. The game stayed tied up to the last minute, until Fayette made two straight shots, drawing fouls on each.

Luke Garrison led Phil Campbell with 23 points. Garrison hit five of the Bobcats’ 10 three-pointers in the game. Brett Saint added 13 points.
