RPD receives upgrades

The Russellville City Council met for its regularly-scheduled meeting Jan. 6 with a small agenda to start the new year.

Two items were approved to benefit the Russellville Police Department.

For one, the police department will receive 23 laptops for patrol cars. The city council accepted the bid from SmartFox Solutions at Monday’s meeting as the lowest bidder to provide the new technology.

The city council also accepted a quote from Affordable Service for the purchase and installation of a new heating and air conditioning unit at the Russellville Police Department. The total cost was $9,994.

In other action, the city council authorized a payment to the Municipal Workers Compensation Fund in the amount of $84,249 and declared vehicles and equipment surplus in the Russellville Fire Department.

The next city council meeting will take place Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at Russellville City Hall.
