Tunes, Tees golf tourney draws record participants

or six years, FAME Girls’ Ranch volunteer Buzz McKinney has helped organize the Tunes and Tees Golf Tournament, but this year the tournament reached new heights, with two tee times and a record number 140 golfers.

The Tunes and Tees Golf Tournament is part of an annual two-part fundraiser for FAME Girls’ Ranch. McKinney said this year the golf tournament raised more than $10,000.

“We are just so thankful the message about what we do at FAME Girls’ Ranch has begun to reach more people,” McKinney said. “That’s a big part of what we try to do, is try to educate people on what we do at FAME Girls’ Ranch, and this is a wonderful outreach for us right here.”

This year’s 140 golfers far eclipsed last year’s number of 99. McKinney also said this is the first year for the tournament to be a four-man scramble instead of a three-man scramble.

There were 18 teams participating in the morning tee time and 17 teams in the afternoon tee time. McKinney said some teams were local, but others traveled from southern Tennessee and Mississippi to compete.

Cash prizes were awarded for the morning and afternoon flights, with first place winning $800, second place winning $600 and third place winning $400.

First place for the 8:30 a.m. tee time went to Joshua Seal, Braden Bendall, Aaron Jackson and Ross Napier. The team of Chase Bullington, Ronnie Lovett, Eric Boutwell, and Rick Bostick placed first in the 12:30 flight.

McKinney said this tournament was smoother than any tournament he has hosted. He said he is thankful for the sponsors for the event and everyone who helped make it possible.
